The Situation

Turo, the world’s largest car sharing marketplace, was advocating for a California bill that would address an unfair increase in insurance costs. The bill’s failure could jeopardize Turo’s operations in the Golden State. 

Searching for a better way to mobilize advocates, Turo sought a vendor with a core focus on grassroots advocacy, exceptional customer support and quality-enhancing story collection features.

The Challenge

Turo was hesitant about partnering with another grassroots advocacy tool after experiencing challenges with previous vendors. 

They wanted to avoid the product bloat and inefficiency of “all-in-one” advocacy solutions, poor customer service and hard-to-learn platforms. 

It was crucial that a new partner could swiftly transfer years of important campaign data and advocate stories without disruption.

The Partnership

As they explored partnership with Speak4, support was a key differentiator.

Within days of onboarding, Turo’s data transfer was complete and they launched their first campaign.

Results

Getting creative with the Speak4 platform and sharing quality stories with lawmakers helped Turo drive results in unexpected ways. 

“The platform is not complicated. Before, I had to think through every committee a bill might go to, then set everything up for the next six months for every possible permutation of how things may turn out. But with Speak4, it’s easy to get something up and running.”

Turo celebrated a big win when the bill received Gov. Newsom’s signature in September 2024. Their campaign recruited 2,266 advocates and generated 31,955 messages for lawmakers.
